- זָקִיתָאf. (זקק) (the transparent one, cmp. זְבוּגָא, chamæleon (v. Sm. Ant. s. v.). Snh.108b ed. (Ms. M. זקותא, Ms. F. רקיתא); Yalk Gen. 59 (some ed. רקיתא). (Mus. derives our w. fr. זיקא, cmp. זַוְקָאנָא, the chamæleon being believed to live on air.
